Our story Junior Leaders prepares the next generation for success in a fast-changing world. Established in 2019, Junior Leaders aims to provide young people relevant skills and advice to do well at school, further education, work and life. Junior Leaders aim to provide a friendly, safe and inclusive club for young people to both learn and have fun. Founder & Managing Director James Woodley lives in London and is a parent of two secondary school students. James started his career as an Army Officer before working in Financial Services. Most recently he has worked for two start-up FinTech companies. He has led and participated in several hiking and mountaineering expeditions in North America, Europe and Asia. He holds the following qualifications and memberships: BA(Hons) Politics & Government Executive MBA Ofsted Recognised Paediatric First Aid (12 Hour) Emergency First Aid at Work Designated Safeguarding Officer qualification Member of the British Mountaineering Council He is responsible for devising the training programme and ensuring that all adult supervisors have been DBS checked, briefed on safeguarding policies and hold relevant qualifications.

Her work explores contrasts of colour, surface and texture in a unique & distinctive way. Vibrant & tactile, her pieces present the ordinary as extraordinary. Having spent 6 months studying at The Arts & Crafts Academy in Kuopio, Finland, she is keen to draw from and represent traditional textile craft skills in her work.

Our Wednesday drop-in has welcomed over 70 new students into English classes. On Monday mornings the Salvation Army holds Drop-ins just for Ukrainians. The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) was founded in 1965 by Wilfred Clark (1898 – 1981), who had been practising yoga during his service in the army in the First World War. In his civilian life, Wilfred became a journalist editing a newspaper in Sutton Coldfield. He began teaching yoga and it was this work that culminated in the founding of the Wheel. The organisation began life as The Wheel of British Yoga but this was changed in 1969 to The Western Yoga Federation, which was registered as a charity in 1973. The name was changed to The British Wheel of Yoga in 1974. During his latter years, Wilfred devoted himself to spreading the yoga message, travelling the country to present at meetings and seminars. Wilfred died in 1981 having attended many BWY Congresses. A bursary has been set up in his honour to be awarded to BWY teachers developing the teaching to support students with special needs. For more information on the bursary, click here. The first National Congress took place in Birmingham in 1967, expanding to a national two-day residential event in Walsall in 1976. The Annual Congress, or BWY Sangha as it is now called, continues today, providing the opportunity for members to meet, exchange ideas and develop their practice.

I’ve been a coach since 2013 on the back of a career that has been varied, bringing with it a range of life skills and experience that are invaluable to coaching. I’ve worked for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (as it was back in the day), the Countryside Alliance and I’ve served with the Territorial Army. I’ve been told that last bit was good training for raising 3 boys! There have been other adventures too. Catering (I love cooking but not professionally and am in awe of those who do), fundraising for schools and various political campaigns. For a while I thought the political life was where I wanted to go but decided it didn’t work for me alongside raising a family. Again, in awe of those who do. Working for a charity called Key4Life was a particularly fascinating and inspiring project. The common thread running through everything I have done is people. All sorts of different people from different starting points, different parts of the world, different mindsets. Building a rapport with people honestly but quickly comes very naturally to me. It is finding out your story and working closely with you to lighten the load or improve the quality of your life that is at the core of my coaching.

Selson Farm sits in a gentle valley on the eastern edge of the North Downs in Kent. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful apple, pear and cherry orchards, with plenty of asparagus fields nearby too. The camping field itself is a good four-acres, completely flat and lined with trees for shade and shelter. David is an ex-army Major and runs the farm. It was bought by his grandfather in the 1920s, who became a renowned English fruit grower. With a spread of crops, there’s always something being harvested in most of the summer. In May, you can pick fresh asparagus and there’s early apples in August. All of the produce is sold locally, either at the farm gate or in farm shops and greengrocers. Our apples and pears also end up in the big supermarkets. Lathe Barn is our newer campsite offering. It boasts over 10 acres of sprawling grounds, situated only two miles inland from the stunning Dymchurch seafront. It also benefits from incredible views of the surrounding hills and you can even see Lympne Castle too. It’s an absolutely wonderful spot to stay with the family, with plenty of activities happening on the grounds and loads of things to do nearby.

'' Stonar is a school with, in my experience, a unique and wonderful charm. I am fortunate to live on our beautiful school site with my wife and my three children, all of whom attend Stonar. Having spent my twenties as an Infantry Officer in the army, I have worked in boarding and day schools for nearly 25 years, including ten years as a boarding Housemaster. I joined Stonar in September 2019. It's certainly been an interesting period to be a Head, but I am incredibly proud of the way that the pupils, staff and parents have responded to the challenges we have encountered as a result of Covid. We have improvised, adapted and overcome anything we have faced, but most importantly, we've thrived. Stonar is a kind, hard-working, happy school, with a family-oriented community. Children have the freedom to be themselves without the fear of being judged, and this, in turn, encourages their motivation to succeed. Our pupils retain their joy because they are not pressured to conform, but rather encouraged to blossom and discover their true passions. While a website cannot give you the same experience as a personal tour, I hope that you are starting to appreciate how special Stonar is and that you feel encouraged to start planning your visit.
