Course information: How to begin Watercolour painting This 4 week introduction course assumes no prior knowledge of Watercolour painting and will guide you through the basics of getting started.
Understand the difference between different brushes and sizes
Understand the difference between different papers and watercolour paints.
How to mix the right consistency of paint.
Create a colour reference.
Create a set of ‘samples’ that demonstrate techniques such as; wet on wet, wet on dry, flat wash and lifting out.
Make a painting of a simple subject and use the skills you’ve learnt to paint a still life of fruits.
Date: 18th & 25th August, 1st & 8th September 2023
Time: 10 am to 12 noon
Venue: Westhampnett community hall, Hadrian Drive, Chichester PO18 0FP
Westhampnett community hall can be found by traveling out of Chichester along Hadrian’s road. There is ample parking to the rear of the hall. Tea and coffee are supplied throughout the session.
Materials: A small selection of equipment will be available to use each week.
You will need to bring:
1 flat watercolour brush (number 10 or larger)
2 round watercolour brushes (numbers 6 and 8-10)
At least 3 tubes of watercolour paint (Red, yellow and Blue)
Pad of Watercolour paper (300 gsm)
Jam jar for water and a plastic pallet.
